objective
To bring my experience and skills in television, print and website design to a corporate communications or marketing department in support of sales, customer service, employee or product training.
For smaller companies looking for an in-house person to create and maintain their website or create print adverting and sales support materials; I can fill that role, much as I did with We’re Organized. Larger companies delivering online mixed media including video clips will find my 14 years of commercial ad production and copy writing a valuable asset.
satisfaction comes with skills exercised / nourished / multiplied
I love finding the creative hook for great copy, directing performances for verisimilitude and intent, shooting rich images from interesting angles, creating graphics that add meaning to the message and bringing it all together in an edit of elegance and impact. In fourteen years in TV commercial production, I’ve worn the hats of writer, director, videographer, graphic artist and editor. In each of these roles, I’ve worked hard to bring the things “I love” to every project.
I've never worked for a large ad agency... the concept and copy where always just the start. The execution has always been a big part of my job.
The concept is the underlying creative idea that drives your message. Even in a big ad campaign, the concept will typically remain the same from one ad to another, and from one medium to another. Only the execution of that concept will change. With this in mind... its not to surprising that I found creating print ads as satisfying as creating TV commercials. Research indicates that 70% of people will only look at the visual in an ad, whereas only 30% will read the headline.
With TV your audience is somewhat captive, with print their not! In many ways an effective print ad is harder to execute that a an effective TV commercial.
I am passionate about design, website interface usability and web standards. I strive for clean design, clean compliant code and quick loading responsive websites. Newspapers are dead, local TV and even local news in dying. Will the internet launch a thousand nitch markets, fulfill the promise of easy access to information and make us all more informed. Will the internet create a technology / information under class (mom can't use e-mail) or be the idiot-box of the next century? I have high hopes for what the internet will become and want to be a part!
